【現地レポート】王者・岩佐歩夢、もてぎ開幕戦で見せた速さと課題 ― JALOXが追ったスーパーフォーミュラ2026 Rd.1 & Rd.2 ―

F1に次ぐ速さを誇る、国内最高峰フォーミュラ「全日本スーパーフォーミュラ選手権」の2026年シーズンが開幕。

2026年4月4日〜5日、スーパーフォーミュラ2026 開幕戦 Rd.1・Rd.2 もてぎ大会がモビリティリゾートもてぎにて開催されました。

JALOXは今シーズンも引き続き、ディフェンディングチャンピオンである岩佐歩夢選手をパーソナルスポンサーとしてサポートしています。

本記事では、現地での取材をもとに、開幕2戦を振り返ります。

It’s officially lights out for the 2026 season of the Super Formula Championship, Japan’s premier formula series with speeds second only to F1.

From April 4 to 5, 2026, the opening rounds (Rd.1 & Rd.2) were held at Mobility Resort Motegi. JALOX continues to support defending champion Ayumu Iwasa as his personal sponsor this season. In this report, we look back on the opening double-header based on our on-site coverage.

【王者として迎えた開幕戦 ― 初日から示した“圧倒的な速さ”】

金曜日のフリー走行では、岩佐選手がいきなりトップタイムを記録。

今大会はコースの再舗装という新たな要素が加わる中、いち早く最適解を見つけ出し、王者としての実力を印象付けました。

現地で観戦していても、他車と比べた際のコーナー立ち上がりの安定感や、マシンの挙動の落ち着きは際立っており、「今年も中心にいるのはこのドライバーだ」と感じさせる走りでした。

【A Champion’s Presence — Dominating Speed from Day One】

In Friday’s free practice, Iwasa immediately set the pace by topping the charts. Despite the challenge of a newly resurfaced track, he quickly found the optimal setup, demonstrating the prowess expected of a reigning champion. Even from trackside, his car stood out—particularly the stability on corner exits and the overall composure of his machine. It was a performance that signaled he remains the man to beat this season.

【Rd.1予選 ― 完璧なポールポジション】

続く予選では、その速さを確実に結果へと結びつけ、見事ポールポジションを獲得。

新舗装路面への適応力、タイヤのピークを引き出す精度、そして一発の速さ。

すべてが噛み合った、まさに“王者の予選”でした。

【Rd.1 Qualifying — A Masterful Pole Position】

Iwasa converted that raw speed into a tangible result, securing a perfect pole position. His adaptation to the new surface, precision in hitting the tire’s peak, and sheer one-lap pace all converged—a true "champion's qualifying."

【岩佐歩夢選手が語る「もてぎで最も重要なコーナー」】

現地取材では、岩佐歩夢選手に、モビリティリゾートもてぎで最も印象的なコーナーについて伺いました。

「もてぎで好き、というより印象的なのは1〜2コーナーです。もてぎは“ストップアンドゴー”と呼ばれる、しっかりブレーキで止めて曲げて立ち上がる低速コーナーが続くサーキットです。その中で1〜2コーナーは、最初に飛び込むコーナーですが、予選の一発でここが良ければ、“いけそうだ”という感覚になります。逆にここでうまくいかないと、“この周は厳しいな”と感じてしまうこともあります。そういう意味でも、1〜2コーナーはとても重要なコーナーだと思っています。」

【Ayumu Iwasa on Motegi’s Most Crucial Corners】

During our interview, we asked Iwasa about the most significant section of the track.

"Rather than a 'favorite,' the most impactful for me are Turns 1 and 2. Motegi is a 'stop-and-go' circuit characterized by heavy braking into low-speed corners. Turns 1 and 2 are the first you attack; if they feel right during a qualifying flyer, you think, 'This is the one.' Conversely, if you miss it there, you know the rest of the lap will be an uphill battle. In that sense, they are pivotal corners."

【Rd.1決勝 ― 勝利目前での逆転劇】

しかし決勝は一転、難しい展開となります。

雨の影響によりスタート進行やレース展開が大きく揺れる中、岩佐選手は冷静にレースをコントロール。

ポールポジションからレースをリードし、「このまま開幕戦を制するか」と思われました。

しかし再スタートの攻防でポジションを奪われ、惜しくも2位フィニッシュ。

現地でも、この瞬間は大きな転換点として強く印象に残りました。

内容としては勝利に最も近い走りであっただけに、悔しさの残るレースとなりました。

【Rd.1 Race — Victory Slipped Away】

The race told a different story. Rain disrupted the start procedure and overall dynamics. Iwasa controlled the field from pole, looking poised for a season-opening win. However, during the intensity of a restart, he lost the lead and finished P2. While frustrating, his performance was the closest to a perfect victory, leaving a strong impression on everyone at the track.

【Rd.2 ― 主導権を巡る攻防】(予選: P3 / 決勝: P8)

翌日のRd.2では、前日の流れを引き継ぐ形でライバル勢が台頭。

スタート直後からポジション争いが激化し、岩佐選手も上位で戦い続けたものの、

レースの主導権は他車に渡る展開となり、“追う側”としてのレースを強いられることになりました。

今回特に印象的だったのは、ほんのわずかな流れやポジションの違いが、そのままレース全体の主導権に直結するという、スーパーフォーミュラの厳しさです。

【Rd.2 — The Battle for Initiative】 (Qualifying: P3 / Race: P8)

In Rd.2, rivals surged forward. Position battles intensified from the start, and while Iwasa remained in the mix, the initiative shifted, forcing him into a "chasing" race. This highlighted the sheer tactical difficulty of Super Formula, where the slightest shift in momentum dictates the outcome.

【現地で感じた“王者の現在地”】

今回の開幕2戦を通じて強く感じたのは、「速さは間違いなくトップ。しかし、勝利はわずかな差でこぼれ落ちる」という、トップカテゴリーならではのシビアな現実でした。

岩佐選手は週末を通して安定したパフォーマンスを発揮し、その実力は疑いようのないものであることを改めて証明しました。

一方で、勝敗を分けたのはほんの一瞬のタイミングや流れ。

その差が、結果として開幕戦の主導権を左右する形となりました。

【The Champion’s Current Form: Where He Stands Now】

Throughout these opening two rounds, we felt the sheer, unforgiving reality of top-tier racing:

"The speed is undeniably elite, yet victory can slip away in the blink of an eye."

Iwasa delivered a consistent performance all weekend, once again proving that his caliber is beyond question. At the same time, the line between winning and losing came down to split-second timing and momentum—those tiny margins that ultimately dictated the outcome of the opening rounds.

今回の結果だけを見れば、決して完璧なスタートとは言えないかもしれません。

しかし現地での走り、チームの雰囲気、そしてドライビングの完成度を総合的に見れば、

今シーズンもタイトル争いの中心にいるのは岩佐歩夢選手であると確信できる内容でした。

【Strong Conviction in the Quest for Back-to-Back Titles】

Looking solely at the results, it may not have been a "perfect" start. However, when you look at the bigger picture—the pace on track, the team’s atmosphere, and the sheer maturity of his driving—it is clear that Ayumu Iwasa remains the central figure in this year's title fight. We left the circuit with a firm belief in his potential for a second consecutive championship.
