In the 2025 season of the Super Formula Championship, Ayumu Iwasa of TEAM MUGEN fought through a campaign that proved not only his speed, but also his extraordinary mental strength.

Competing with the prestigious TEAM MUGEN squad, he positioned himself at the center of the championship battle from the very beginning of the season. With outstanding qualifying performances and consistently composed race management, he steadily accumulated points. In closely contested races, his calm tire management and decisive overtaking maneuvers thrilled spectators time and again, leaving a strong impression of his racecraft and determination.

However, the road to the title was far from smooth. There were races affected by unpredictable weather, sudden strategic changes caused by safety car deployments, and intense battles where victory slipped away by the narrowest of margins. In particular, toward the end of the season, one race weekend ended with the final canceled due to dense fog, leaving a sense of unfinished business.

The fight for points during periods when momentum was difficult to grasp must have brought immense psychological pressure. Yet he never faltered. Frustration was transformed into motivation for the next race. Together with his team, he continued to analyze data and refine the car’s setup.

That persistent effort ultimately paid off in the closing stages of the season, evolving into performances that seized control of the championship battle.

What he demonstrated throughout the season was not merely speed, but the true “Number One – the qualities of a champion.”

He delivered when the pressure was highest and, even after becoming the points leader and the driver everyone was chasing, he never lost his attacking spirit.

And so, having fought through the entire season and turned every experience into strength, 2025 became the year he claimed the Driver’s Championship in just his second season in Super Formula.

In 2026, as Ayumu Iwasa continues his journey to even greater heights, he will carry the champion’s number — Car No. 1 — with TEAM MUGEN AUTOBACS taking on new battles together with the fans.
