SF第8戦 東北大会はスポーツランドSUGO（宮城県村田町）にて8月9日（土）予選、10日（日）決勝のスケジュールで開催されました。9日（土）公式予選の天候は青空が見える晴天で気温31℃、路面温度49℃。この日FP1から好調を維持していたTEAM MUGEN No.15 岩佐歩夢選手は1'05.517と2022年にSUGOで優勝経験をもつVANTELIN TEAM TOM'S No.37 S.フェネストラズ選手をコンマ2秒以上を上回るタイムを叩き出し、今期初のポールポジションを獲得。TEAM MUGEN No.16 野尻智紀選手はコース上で若干マシンがブレ、11番手という結果になりました。野尻智紀選手は予選Q1では予選グループ3位であったこともあり、非常に悔しい予選結果となりました。

The 8th round of the SF (Super Formula) series, the Tohoku event, was held at Sportsland SUGO (Murata Town, Miyagi Prefecture) with qualifying on Saturday, August 9th, and the final race on Sunday, August 10th.

The official qualifying on Saturday, the 9th, took place under sunny skies with patches of blue and a temperature of 31°C, and a track surface temperature of 49°C. TEAM MUGEN’s No.15 driver, Ayumu Iwasa, who had maintained strong pace since FP1 that day, set a time of 1'05.517—more than 0.2 seconds faster than VANTELIN TEAM TOM'S No.37 driver Sacha Fenestraz, who had previously won at SUGO in 2022—earning his first pole position of the season. TEAM MUGEN’s No.16 driver, Tomoki Nojiri, experienced slight instability in his machine on track and ended up in 11th place. Given that Nojiri had finished 3rd in his qualifying group during Q1, it was a deeply frustrating result for him.

翌10日（日）決勝の天候は予報通りの雨に見舞われ完全なウェットコンディション、セーフティーカー（SC）導入でのローリングスタートとなりました。5周を終えSCが離脱し、6周目から岩佐歩夢選手がスタート主導権を握る本格的なレースのはじまりとなると予選2番手につけていたS.フェネストラズ選手も上手く岩佐選手のアクセルスタートに合わせ、ホームストレート上で両選手オーバーテイクシステム（OTS）を使用し両車ほぼ並びかける展開へ。緊張感が走りましたが第1コーナー手前でS.フェネストラズ選手の進路を見事防ぎ、岩佐歩夢選手はレース終了までトップの座を譲ることがない完璧なレース展開を見せました。

The final on Sunday, the 10th, unfolded exactly as the forecast predicted—with rain bringing fully wet conditions. The race began with a rolling start under the Safety Car (SC). After five laps, the SC left the track, and from lap six, Ayumu Iwasa took control of the start. Sacha Fenestraz, who had qualified in second, matched Iwasa’s throttle response skillfully, and on the home straight, both drivers activated their Overtake System (OTS), bringing them nearly side-by-side. The tension was palpable, but just before the first corner, Iwasa successfully defended his line from Fenestraz’s challenge. From there, Iwasa never relinquished the lead, delivering a flawless race all the way to the checkered flag.

雨のレースとなり多くの選手がコンディションに苦しむ中、単独スピンやクラッシュ等で実にSCが3度も入る波乱含みの展開もTEAM MUGEN 岩佐歩夢選手は毎回のリスタートに動じず、素晴らしいリスタート時のアクセルワークとタイヤマネジメントも含み完璧にマシンとレース展開をコントロールした戦いとなりました。昨年よりSF参戦後、優勝を取れそうで取れなかった岩佐選手。その我慢に対する強い精神力、本来彼が持っているマネジメント力、

マシンの声を聴く洞察力、ドライビングテクニックに勝利の女神が微笑み、見事SFで初優勝を掴み取ることに成功しました。それもポールポジションからの見事な優勝でありモータースポーツファンにも記憶に残る初優勝となりました。

In a rain-soaked race where many drivers struggled with the conditions, multiple incidents—including solo spins and crashes—led to no less than three Safety Car (SC) deployments. Yet, each time the race was restarted, TEAM MUGEN’s Ayumu Iwasa remained unshaken. His superb throttle control during restarts, combined with outstanding tire management, allowed him to completely command both his machine and the flow of the race.

Since joining Super Formula last year, Iwasa had come close to victory several times but had never quite reached the top step. This time, his patience, unwavering mental strength, innate management skills, keen sensitivity to the “voice” of the car, and exceptional driving technique finally won him the favor of the goddess of victory. He captured his first-ever Super Formula win—and did so in style, from pole position—creating a debut victory that will remain in the memory of motorsport fans.

また印象的だったのは優勝後ポディウム前でマシンを止めた岩佐選手を出迎えたTEAM MUGEN 田中監督、小池チーフエンジニア、メカニックやスタッフのみなさんのどうしようもない無邪気な笑顔と歓喜の声が声援を送り続けた私たちの心に残りました。

TEAM MUGENの強さと団結力をそこに見たことに間違いはないと確信できる素晴らしいワンシーンでした。

One particularly touching moment came after the race, when Iwasa stopped his car in front of the podium. There, TEAM MUGEN’s Team Director Tanaka, Chief Engineer Koike, and the mechanics and staff greeted him with pure, uncontainable smiles and joyous shouts. For those of us who had been cheering him on, their happiness left a lasting impression. It was a beautiful scene that embodied the undeniable strength and unity of TEAM MUGEN.
